Utilities

Telephone
Sierra Telephone, (209) 966-3636, provides telephone service for the south side of Mariposa County.
 
On the north side, for the communities of Lake Don Pedro, Coulterville, Bear Valley and Greeley Hill the phone service is provided by SBC, (800) 310-2355.
 
On the western side, in the town of Hornitos, telephone service is provided by TDS Telecom, (360) 263-1154.
 
Internet Services 
Are also provided by Sierra Tel Internet, (877) 638-7787 and Iron Mountain Systems, 742-5000. Mariposa County has an extensive fiber optic infrastructure that benefits high-tech and home-based businesses.
  
Electricity
Pacific Gas and Electric provides power for the county. For service, call (800) 743-5000.
 
Water
If you live in the town of Mariposa your water is provided by the Mariposa Public Utility District, (209) 966-2515.

If you live on acreage you have your own well. In Coulterville and Yosemite West the county runs a community water district.
 
Sewer
If you live in the town of Mariposa your sewer may be provided by the Mariposa Public Utility District, (209) 966-2515.
 
If you live on acreage you have your own septic tank. In Coulterville, Yosemite West, Mariposa Pines and Don Pedro the county runs a community sewer district.
 
Propane
Since there aren’t any natural gas lines running to the foothills, people rely on propane. A variety of private companies, listed in the phone book, provide deliveries.
 
Trash Services
The county operates landfill sites throughout the area where people can deliver their own trash for a nominal fee. There is also private trash collection services thru Total Waste Systems of Mariposa (209) 966-3190.
